Jeff Bezos Spokesperson Denies He Wants to Sell The Washington Post

A report from the New York Post regarding Jeff Bezos’ planning on selling The Washington Post to purchase the NFL’s Washington Commanders is being debunked.

“I think Bezos’ people could go to Dan [Snyder] and say as a gesture of goodwill, ‘We are selling the paper,’” a source close to the situation told The NY Post. “I think that would go a long way with Dan.”

However, a spokesperson for Bezos denied a report suggesting the billionaire is looking to sell The Washington Post. Additionally, a representative for The Post confirmed the paper is not for sale to Mediaite.

The Washington Post also reported on Jan. 17 that Bezos isn’t part of the first round of bids for the Commanders this year.

“Given Bezos’s vast net worth, many concede the team would be his for the taking,” The Post wrote. “But given the uncertainty surrounding his intentions, several groups of prospective buyers are vying to be next in line if Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, opts out or sets a hard cap on what he’s willing to pay, people with ties to the process have said.”
