Wayne Randazzo has left the Big Apple for the City of Angels. That means the New York Mets are in search of a new voice for their radio broadcast team. Just like when there is a need to fill a hole on the field, the team’s farm system may produce the answer.
According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, Keith Raad has emerged as the leading candidate for the job. Raad spent last season calling games for the Mets’ single-A affiliate the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Raad was reportedly impressive in his interview with Audacy bosses. Audacy is the parent company of the Mets’ flagship station, WCBS. While he is their desired target, the team does have to approve his hire.
There should be no doubt about Keith Raad’s passion. He is a lifelong Mets fan who grew up on Long Island.
The exact number of games Raad would be expected to call is not known at this time. Howie Rose made the decision last year to cut back on the number of dates he spent in the team’s radio booth.
