WBAP morning host Hal Jay was the recipient of a heart transplant after suffering from an irregular heartbeat in January.
Jay suffered several ventricular tachycardia events earlier this year, which landed him at Baylor Scott & White University Medical, where he was informed he would need a new heart.
The WBAP host underwent surgery Saturday morning. His wife, Ann, joined WBAP Morning News to report on the happenings.
“It seems like a dream,” she said, adding the surgery took less time than anticipated.
Jay himself then joined the program from his hospital bed, saying he will be going home “sooner than expected”, adding he hoped to return to work in roughly three weeks.
“I can’t do this long, because the emotional roller coaster is tremendous,” Jay said. “All the prayers, God works, boy does God work. Unbelievable.”
He also encouraged listeners to sign up to become an organ donor.
