The State of the Union address is a tradition that dates to George Washington’s presidency. It provides the President with a platform to communicate their vision for the country, highlights their administration’s accomplishments, and discuss the key challenges and issues facing the nation. On Tuesday, Syndicated radio host Dan Bongino accused President Joe Biden of using the annual address as an opportunity to lie to the American people which was then amplified by mainstream media.
“When we have a Republican president, the media hates them because they are Republicans,” said Bongino. “So, what is the media’s role in a Republican administration? Their role is that of an adversary. It’s not journalism, it’s whatever the Republican says should be challenged.”
Bongino acknowledged his strong political views and outspoken criticism of liberal policies and politicians.
“My point in this is, it’s very hard to lie when you’re a Republican president as consistently as Biden,” he said. “All politicians lie, Republicans and Democrats. But it’s impossible to lie to the degree that Joe Biden does if you’re a Republican because the media sees themselves as your adversary, not as doing actual journalism. So, whatever you say, even if it’s factually accurate, there will always be a challenge to it.”
Dan Bongino is a former U.S. Secret Service agent who has transitioned into a career in media and politics. In addition to his role on Fox News, he is also the host of the Westwood One radio show The Dan Bongino Show which streams on Fox Nation and is broadcast daily from 12:00-3:00 PM ET.
