Melanie Ricks: 101.7 The Truth Isn’t Just ‘Black Talk Radio’, It’s ‘Radio for Everybody’

Good Karma Brands just added two new shows to the 101.7 The Truth lineup in Milwaukee. One of those shows is hosted by Melanie Ricks, who has served as the in-game host for Bucks games. She sat down recently with Stephanie Brown of WTMJ-TV to talk about the goals for her show, Nuthin’ But the Truth.

“I want Nothin’ But the Truth to be about making everyone feel comfortable no matter where they come from,” Ricks said.

Melanie Ricks is 31 years old. She says it is actually a great age to be hosting a talk radio show. Being a younger host makes her accessible to a variety of audiences.

“I am a millennial. My mom is Gen X, and I feel like us millennials are such a good way to bridge the gap between Gen X and Gen Z,” she said. “The reason why is that a lot of the Gen X values, as far as traditions go, we grew up with those as well. But the world has changed so much during us millennials’ lifetime that I think we are a bit of the past with the present and with a taste of the future.”

She added that despite the station’s overall goal of serving the Black population of Milwaukee, her show can have broad appeal.

“Although we are black talk radio, I think we are radio for everybody.”

Nuthin’ But the Truth airs weekdays at noon.
