In a video obtained by Media Matters, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is seen airing his grievances with the company’s streaming service — FOX Nation — and complained that the platform wasn’t receiving the support it needed.
After saying that he didn’t “want to be a slave” to the streaming platform, Carlson admitted that he didn’t think “people watch anyway”.
The video in question came before he recorded an interview with Andrew Tate, an American social media influencer last summer. Before the interview, Carlson appears to be worried about his clothing, saying he’s weary of looking “like bro talk”.
When someone off-screen suggested that Carlson look “casual” because the interview would air on his Tucker Carlson Today streaming show, the host aired his problems with the platform.
“But nobody’s going to watch it on FOX Nation. Nobody watches FOX Nation because the site sucks,” Carlson says. “So I’d really like to just…dump the whole thing on YouTube. But anyway, that’s just my view.
“I’m just frustrated with it. It’s hard to use that site. I don’t know why they’re not fixing it,” continued Carlson. “It’s driving me insane. And they’re like making, like, Lifetime movies. But they don’t work on the infrastructure of the site. Like what? It’s crazy. And it drives me crazy because it’s like we’re doing all this extra work and no one can find it. It’s unbelievable, actually. I don’t know who runs that site.”
Later, Carlson said he felt as if his efforts for the platform were undermined by the service’s difficulty of use.
“We’re working like animals to produce all this content, and the people in charge of it, whoever that guy’s, whatever his name is, like, they’re ignoring the fact that the site doesn’t work. And I think it’s like a betrayal of our efforts. That’s how I feel. So, of course, I resent it.”
