After his bombshell revelation that he would move his nightly show to Twitter, Tucker Carlson may not be the only Fox News host to join the platform.
A report from Variety’s Tatiana Siegel claims a “handful of Fox anchors have reached out to Carlson directly or had their surrogates contact him to say they are eager to join whatever venture he starts on Twitter when their contracts are up”.
The report goes on to say that while Twitter owner Elon Musk has claimed that there is not a deal in place between the social media outlet and the former Fox News host, the pair have been in “constant communication”.
Carlson is expected to launch the programming within the next month, with Justin Wells — who was also ousted from Fox News — on board to serve as the program’s executive producer. The show will originate from Carlson’s home in Maine, where he holds a full production studio.
Siegel’s report goes on to claim that, as has been speculated, Carlson’s departure was an unspoken agreement between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News as part of its $787.5 million settlement. The report claims Carlson’s departure was a dealbreaker for Dominion, saying that if he was not removed from the network, the settlement was off and the lawsuit would go to trial.
However, both Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems have denied the insinuation.
“As the Fox principals who negotiated the settlement well know, Dominion made no demands about Tucker Carlson’s employment orally or in writing,” a Dominion spokesperson said. “Any claims otherwise are categorically false and a thinly veiled effort to further damage Dominion. Fox should take every effort to stop these lies immediately.”
