Last weekend, Twitter announced it would limit the amount of daily tweets users could view. The decision was widely panned, but Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino is defending the move.

“When you have a mission like Twitter — you need to make big moves to keep strengthening the platform,” Yaccarino wrote in a tweet. “This work is meaningful and on-going.”

While announcing the move, Twitter owner Elon Musk claimed that verified accounts are now restricted to a maximum of 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts face a limit of only 600 posts per day.

After many users experienced the difficulty on Saturday, July 1st, observers pondered if the social media platform’s financial situation was the cause for the shift in strategy.

However, the number of accounts sharing they had exceeded their daily limit has dropped dramatically in subsequent days.
