After re-purchasing Barstool Sports from PENN Entertainment for a single dollar, Dave Portnoy is now working on reinvigorating content from the digital brand. Apparently, that includes SiriusXM.
In a tweet Thursday, the Barstool Sports founder had a simple message. “Hey SiriusXM. Let’s talk,” Portnoy wrote.
A deal between Barstool and SiriusXM would be a reunion after a previous partnership ended in 2021. Barstool’s content began appearing on satellite radio in 2017 with a two-hour daily show.
In 2018, Barstool Sports launched an exclusive 24-hour channel on SiriusXM, that ultimately ended after the satellite radio company offered a new contract that Portnoy said wasn’t worth considering.
After taking control of the company he founded earlier this week, Portnoy vowed to return Barstool to its roots as a content hub. He immediately re-hired Ben Mintz who was forced out by PENN after uttering a racial slur during a May live stream.
