Clay Travis: I Don’t Want to Worry About Reacting to News

OutKick founder Clay Travis continues his nationwide book tour. American Playbook: The Guide to Winning Back the Country has been praised by many hosts in talk radio. Travis says that he developed the concept for his book by drawing upon his experience in sports.

Travis hosted a morning show on Fox Sports Radio for years before Premiere Networks paired him with co-host Buck Sexton to take Rush Limbaugh’s spot on nearly 600 radio affiliates across the country.

“So much of what we do sometimes is reacting in radio and TV to what’s going on,” Travis told Mark Levin. “I really wanted to sit down and not have to worry about reacting necessarily to the day’s news.”

Travis said he wrote the book from the perspective of a Republican strategist creating a winning playbook for elections.

“That was the premise that I started with, and then I wanted to write it in an accessible, easy-to-understand, engaging way,” he said. “Because here’s the other thing, I want people to like it, but I really want people to give it to their kids and grandkids and say, ‘Hey, think about this.’”

Clay Travis added that it’s important to compete for the hearts and minds of younger generations.
