It was a dream come true for Barstool Sports host Kevin “KFC” Clancy this week when WFAN legend Mike Francesa stopped by the New York office and did an interview on KFC Radio.
Clancy, on Tuesday’s edition of the podcast, joked that it was a good thing that Francesa didn’t have a really good understanding of what kind of show KFC put together.
“It’s like, I think he pseudo knows who I am and like pseudo respects me because I’m part of Barstool,” Clancy said. “But like, if he listened to one of our episodes, he’d probably be like, ”This is garbage. This is like, this is like ruining humanity.’ You know what I mean?”
Clancy talked about how the show often discusses subject matter that is not suitable for terrestrial radio and how that typically doesn’t jive with Francesa. He said Francesa doesn’t believe in working blue.
“He is not from that era at all,” Clancy said to co-host John Feitelberg. Feits had mentioned that he thought about telling Francesa he thought he was “hot”. Clancy said a comment about his hair would’ve probably gone over better.
Still, KFC had a pinch-me moment getting the chance to sit down with a New York radio icon and someone he had followed for a long time.
“But yeah, just an all-time, all-time moment,” he said. “A legend and totally lived up to the hype.”
