On Tuesday’s edition of First Take on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith discussed Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball and his recovery following a third knee surgery. Ball confirmed that he will miss the entirety of the 2023-24 season, leading Smith to say that he does not think he will ever be the same. Moreover, Smith said that he heard from people that Ball could barely get up from a sedentary position and assumed that something went wrong in the process.
The commentary caught the attention of Ball, who recorded a video where he continuously got up from a chair to prove that Smith was wrong. the guard then implored Smith to contact him next time if he had any questions, saying that he is not hard to reach.
“Who are your sources, bro?,” Ball said in the video, which has garnered more than 3.5 million views on X. “Please tell me who your sources are. Come on man. Come on man. You’ve got to stop yapping – and I actually like you, man. I don’t even know you like that, but I like you. I’m coming back, man. Come on!”
Smith quickly replied to Ball on X, saying that it was nice to know that he would want him to reach out and would be happy to do so.
Three hours later, he extended an open invitation for Ball to appear on The Stephen A. Smith Show, his podcast through Audacy’s Cadence13 division.
