Chris Stigall Exits Midday Slot at KCMO; Ray Stevens Takes Over

Changes are coming to KCMO’s weekday lineup as Chris Stigall leaves KCMO Talk Radio as the midday host to take a more permanent role with The Herzog Foundation in Kansas City.

Stigall signed off on Wednesday, explaining his decision to join a foundation committed to developing Christ-centered K–12 education. Furthermore, he expressed that this isn’t a goodbye from radio or KCMO, for that matter.

“Today is kind of a bittersweet and a strange day because I don’t want to really frame this as it may sound,” Stigall said. “It’s going to kind of sound like a goodbye, but I don’t want it to really sound like a goodbye because it’s not a goodbye in the traditional sense. I’ll just cut to the chase and say that right off the top, as a daily fixture on this radio station, I’ll no longer be doing that.”

“As I say, I’m not leaving town, so I’m still going to be around, just won’t be here. Showing up for the daily assignment of 10 a.m. to noon after today. So that’s really the news. It’s not a sad announcement. It’s actually quite happy because it’s a new focus, and it’s something that I really feel I’m being led to do and called to do, and I need to obey that call, and I need to put my energies.”

As mentioned, Stigall will be doing radio as he’ll continue his morning show for Salem on 990AM The Answer from 6a-9a ET. Furthermore, KCMO already has Stigall’s replacement, as Ray Stevens, who has previously hosted at WLS in Chicago and has done a lot of fill-in work for the station, will take over in the middays.

“Going to be fun. From the first time I filled in for @PeteMundo, the listeners treated me like gold!” Stevens wrote. “Let’s do this #KansasCity best to Chris @ChrisStigall and his work with the Herzog Foundation and his continued success @SalemMediaGrp in Philly.”
