Viewership for coverage of the division series round of the MLB postseason was down this year compared to last.
Sports Business Journal reported that the games collectively averaged 3.1 million viewers, airing on FOX, FS1, TBS, and truTV. The average viewership this year was an 8% decrease compared to the 3.4 million average a year ago.
It didn’t help that the round began on a Saturday, going head-to-head with college football throughout the day and night. Both Game 2’s in the ALDS went up against the NFL.
ALDS games on FOX and FS1 averaged 2.5 million, down 21% versus 2022.
For Warner Bros. Discovery, NLDS coverage on TBS and truTV averaged 3.8 million viewers. That’s a 3% jump year over year. TBS had the most-watched game of the DS round with the Phillies 3-1 series-clinching win at home against the Braves last Thursday, drawing in 5.9 million.
