Vince McMahon to Focus on Media Rights Deals as WWE Executive Chairman

WWE founder and TKO Group Holdings executive chairman Vince McMahon will not be having a bigger hand in the creative direction of its shows moving forward.

McMahon instead is going to be focusing his attention on media rights for Monday Night Raw and NXT moving forward. WWE and NBCUniversal reached an agreement last month that will see Friday Night SmackDown move from its current home on FOX to USA Network next October. The deal is for five years.

McMahon’s son-in-law, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, is the chief content officer and has been handling decisions about storylines and superstar development for SmackDown and Monday Night Raw since July 2022.

Even as McMahon stepped down as WWE chairman at that time after an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations, he still tried to influence the WWE product creatively. Levesque’s creative decisions have been widely praised by fans, and viewers and followers of WWE tend to have an idea when McMahon maybe had final say. But that will no longer be the case.

Reports are that Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel wants everyone in the company to focus on the jobs they’ve been given, including McMahon.
