620 WTMJ is saying goodbye to a Milwaukee native and key member of its radio lineup. Jeff Wagner has announced he’ll be retiring before the end of the year.
Wagner currently hosts The Jeff Wagner Show, which airs daily from noon to 3 PM. However, the show will officially end on December 15th.
“No show runs forever, and it has been an honor and a pleasure to host a daily radio talk show in my hometown for a quarter century,” Wagner said in a statement.
“I am extremely grateful to Good Karma Brands, my teammates (past and present), our partners, and most importantly, our fans for all their support over the years. While I’m excited to see what comes next, I will truly miss the daily interaction with listeners about the issues of the day.”
Wagner started as a part-time host at WTMJ in the summer of 1998 and began hosting a full-time show in early November of that year.
His 25-year career allowed him to be on the air to cover many key events and incidents including the tragic events of September 11th to the COVID pandemic and everything in between.
“Jeff is a broadcasting legend whose daily wisdom and dedication to the station was felt by our audience throughout his entire career,” Greg Scalzo, market manager for Good Karma Brands-Milwaukee, which owns 620 WTMJ, said. “His retirement marks the end of an era, and we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.”
