Brock Huard: I Enjoy Reading Mean Tweets with My Play-by-Play Partner

Being a sports broadcaster, being criticized by fans for being biased against their team comes with the territory. Seattle Sports host Brock Huard is no stranger to that, and he’s even made a segment out of that criticism on Brock & Salk.

On Thursday’s show, the subject of the mean tweets was from over the weekend when Brock was on the call with Jason Benetti for Iowa/Wisconsin last weekend.

“You are the worst commentator of all time, and that’s saying something at Brock Huard,” producer Maura Dooley read.

“These announcers, man. Benetti? Solid. Brock Huard? Bad. Very, very bad,” another tweet read courtesy of producer Justin Barnes. Justin asked if he and Jason went through and compared tweets of fans critiquing their broadcasts, and Huard was pretty emphatic.

“Yes, for years,” he said. “Years ago it was all-timer.”

Brock Huard talked about how some of the most epic comparisons came on plane rides home after games from when he worked at ESPN with Bob Wischusen and Allison Williams.

“See I think Wischusen would have some fun with this,” Salk said. “I’m sure Benetti would love these actually, probably have some good time. You think (Joe) Tessitore handles these well?”

“Yes. Yeah, he’s fine,” Huard responded.
