The third 2024 Republican Presidential primary debate was held Wednesday evening. The debate was presented by both NBC News and Salem Radio Network. Hugh Hewitt represented the radio group, and Charlie Kirk praised his performance.
“We’re going to stay on China and specifically about TikTok,” Hewitt began his question Wednesday. “Last week, Congressman Mike Johnson, who is chairman of the House bi-partisan select committee on the Chinese Communist Party published a long essay on TikTok following the flooding of pro-Hamas propaganda on TikTok accounts across the United States.
“Chairman Gallagher called it ‘shocking’. He called the app ‘predatory’ and ‘controlled by America’s preeminent adversary’, ‘one used to push propaganda and divide America. It’s spyware’. Governor (Chris) Christie, do you agree with Chairman Gallagher?”
On social media, Charlie Kirk praised the question from Hewitt.
“Great question on banning TikTok from Hugh Hewitt from Salem,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “This is exactly the type of question that base conservative voters care about.”
Kirk’s comments came after he questioned why Hewitt wasn’t allowed to ask a question during the debate televised by NBC News until more than 40 minutes into the event.
“Why did it take 42 (minutes) for Salem’s Hugh Hewitt — the only conservative moderator — to get his first question in?,” Kirk asked.
