On Wednesday night, NewsNation host Dan Abrams criticized the partisan media for what he perceived as hypocrisy.
Abrams noted that certain members of Congress displayed childish behavior on Capitol Hill recently. Although cable news hosts condemned their actions, they also gave those same members a platform and praised them.
“While most are focused on the circus animals going rogue, I want to focus on the ringmaster: The partisan media,” Abrams said on Dan Abrams Live. “Because without the partisan media enabling them and even encouraging it the —I guess — dancing bears in Congress might stay in their cages.
“You see, members of Congress are incentivized by the partizan media to act this way. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes it’s more overt. But whether they admit it or not, the partisan media wants the division and the rancor we see on Capitol Hill these days. They feed off it.”
Finally, Abrams stated that the news media cannot get enough of the behavior that members of Congress cannot get enough of.
“The partisan media in particular want to pretend they’re just here to observe when in reality they can’t get enough of this stuff,” Abrams concluded. “They’re encouraging it. They’re celebrating it. And that probably means we’re only going to see more of it.”
