Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough called out the moderation measures of Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum during Wednesday’s Fox News Town Hall with former President Donald Trump.
The segment ostensibly aimed to highlight Trump’s position on reproductive rights. However, Scarborough appeared more preoccupied with Fox News and characterized the Town Hall as a seemingly “paid advertisement” for the Trump campaign.
“I would call it softball — a softball event,” Joe Scarborough said. “I’ve never seen one as fawning. I’m not even sure why they had two hosts there. You know, they could have just had one and just sit there and say, ‘Smile and say, you’re great.’”
Afterward, Scarborough turned his attention to Baier and MacCallum.
“It’s not like he was backed into the corner —he admitted that he was the one who terminated Roe v Wade,” the MSNBC host added. “And what did the Biden people do last night? They’re just hanging out. They’re probably laughing at all the Republican chaos and the debate and then laughing at the Fox News hosts, who were just absolute jokes.”
“It was just an embarrassment. Like, Fox News ‘Ooh, we’re going to be for DeSantis’…Even DesSantis’s people were like, ‘Seriously, this is a paid advertisement for Donald Trump,’ which it was.”
