Michael Strahan: I Love FOX NFL Sunday Today Just Like I Did The Day I Joined

15 years after retiring from the NFL, Michael Strahan has made a name for himself in the media space. He’s a co-host on Good Morning America, part of the FOX NFL Sunday studio cast, and hosts The $100,000 Pyramid for ABC.

Talking to Tom Brady and Jim Gray on Let’s Go!, Brady asked what Strahan has enjoyed the most professionally post-playing days. Michael said it had to be the role at FOX.

“Football is football. I love it. I love it. The guys are amazing. We are a family,” Strahan said. “If I had to take one thing that is probably my favorite thing in the world is where I started, which is there at FOX doing football shows.”

“I love it today just like I loved it 15 years ago when I joined,” he added. “And the amazing thing is I’ve never been there on a Sunday morning at 5:30, 6, 6:30 in the morning when we have to be in and said, ‘I don’t want to be here,’ or ‘I’m tired today, I just want to go home,’ ever. Because the energy of each other lifts us all up, and we know we’re gonna have fun.”

Being a football fan on top of being a Super Bowl champion player, Strahan said there’s nothing better than getting to watch games every week with Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson, and Howie Long.

“I’m gonna watch them anyway,” Strahan said. “Might as well watch them with my buddies and get paid for it to be honest with you. It’s an incredible gig.”

Strahan added of his GMA role, he’s an information sponge around Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

“It’s been like a masterclass for me in television,” Strahan said. “Like I’m sitting next to Robin and George and watching how they use their strengths.”

“I sit there every day, and I just don’t sit on set and let them do their thing and don’t pay attention,” he continued. “I pay attention to why they’ve been able to do it for so long and why they’ve been able to connect and try to use that to help myself as much as I can.”

Michael said it’s hard to top what he’s doing currently.

“I don’t have a bad job. I really don’t,” he said. “I’m like you two, just going with it.”
