Columbia Journalism School revealed the 15 winners of the 2024 duPont-Columbia Awards during a special ceremony on Thursday evening. The awards spotlight exceptional audio and video reporting that serves the public interest.
Furthermore, David Muir from ABC World News Tonight and Audie Cornish from CNN co-hosted the 90-minute-long award ceremony at Columbia University’s Low Memorial Library campus.
Muir’s ABC News was one of the major award winners at the event. The news media outlet won two duPont Silver Batons this year, receiving nominations for four categories. They were awarded for outstanding environmental reporting and ABC News Studio’s Aftershock.
“In this moment when truth is being tested here at home and around the world,” Muir said while co-hosting the award ceremony. “It is a privilege to honor the journalists who work tirelessly to uncover the truth and who often risk their own lives to report on the most pressing stories of our time. Their work has never been more important, and it serves as an inspiration for us all.”
CBS News’ 60 Minutes was another mainstream news outlet that received Finalist honors but did not win this year.
