Devin McCourty was a guest of The Greg Hill Show this morning on WEEI in Boston. The 3-time Super Bowl champion worked for NBC’s Football Night in America this year and most recently teamed with his twin brother Jason to work with Ian Eagle on Westwood One’s play-by-play of the AFC Championship Game.
Asked about working with his twin brother, Jason, who has been on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football since last year, McCourty said, “It is awesome. Especially because the hardest thing with having three people in the booth is the amount of time to talk or the going back and forth. I think because we’ve been around each other for so long it just naturally flows. We were pointing at each other before we talked, saying who was going to go. I think people thought with us going in the booth, we both played defensive back, but we see the game differently. I think because he played for different coaches, what he views is important and what I view are different.”
McCourty also weighed in on the hot topic of Tom Brady entering the broadcast booth next season. “I heard Tom on The Pat McAfee Show…and he said it, ‘I have enough notes to write a book,’ and that’s why I think Brady will be good. He’s one of those…never fail guys and he’s going to study, he’s going to work to be as good as possible. So, it’s going to be fun…to see him going out there and bringing his unique 23-year career to the booth and all of the things he wil talk about. If he is loose and more open, I think people will enjoy even some of his harder takes that we have heard already…I think it will be really good when he gets in the booth.”
McCourty, who played his entire career for Bill Belichick in New England, also weighed in on his old coach and what he thinks he will end up doing next season. “I think he does a studio show and spends time with his grandkids and goes in studio once a week.”
