CNN is reportedly planning major changes to its morning lineup and Erick Erickson doesn’t look at the potential moves favorably.
According to various reports, the network plans to remove Phil Mattingly and Poppy Harlow from CNN This Morning, and completely revamp its before-noon programming slate. Included in the changes is a reported new program for Jim Acosta. That’s where Erickson questioned the motives of the network.
“Losing Phil Mattingly in the morning and adding Jim Acosta daily is not reassuring,” Erickson wrote in a post to X.
Acosta has been a frequent target of criticism from conservative media members for his stances and conduct in relation to coverage of former President Donald Trump and other prominent Republican figures.
Erickson is a former CNN contributor. He has been a somewhat vocal critic of the network as it transitioned away from its strictly news-gathering roots and shifted to a left-leaning network toward the conclusion of Jeff Zucker’s tenure leading the outlet.
