Netflix announced today that for the first time, they will follow a Major League Baseball team over the course of a full season. The Boston Red Sox, who have finished in last place three of the last four seasons, will be featured. Netflix says it will have unprecedented access to players, coaches and executives throughout the season.
The access given to Netflix, in conjunction with MLB studios, will be turned in to a docuseries which will debut in 2025. This is actually one of two projects Netflix is working on involving the Red Sox as the announcement also says the streaming company is working on a docuseries on the 2004 Red Sox team, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. According to the press release, the series will debut “later in 2024.”
