Kristen Welker Joins RTDNA’s First Amendment Award Honorees

The RTDNA Foundation has broadened its selection of honorees for the 2024 First Amendment Award from five individuals to 13, which includes the host of Meet the Press, Kristen Welker.

Welker has earned a spot on the list, recognized by the RTNDA for her exceptional political reporting during one of the most contentious periods in American politics.

As the moderator of a journalism institution, she holds the powerful accountable and consistently demonstrates the significance of the First Amendment.

“The First Amendment Awards gives us all a chance to pause and reflect on the brave and brilliant work done in the name of journalism,” RTDNA Foundation chair Allison McGinley said. “It is a true honor to get a chance to recognize these outstanding recipients.”

Welker joins CNN’s Clarissa Ward in being recognized as the 2024 First Amendment Award winner. Last week, the awards committee chose Ward for her courageous, principled, and comprehensive reporting from some of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones.
