NBC Nightly News will see a new Sunday anchor after Kate Snow announced she will exit the network news program.
Snow announced at the end of Sunday’s program that she would be departing the program after the February 25th edition of the show.
In addition to anchoring NBC Nightly News on Sundays, Kate Snow also anchors NBC News Daily, which she will spend more of her focus on after she departs from the weekend program.
“Our audience on NBC News Daily is growing fast and I have decided after a lot of thought to focus my attention Monday through Friday on that role,” the 54-year-old Snow said.
Kate Snow joined NBC News in 2010 after working at both ABC News and CNN.
Despite reports of cost-cutting at NBC News, Stephen Battaglio of the Los Angeles Times reports Snow’s exit from the weekend program is not related to any budget cuts.
After her departure from the anchor chair, NBC News will use a rotating group of anchors to helm the evening news program until a permanent fixture is named. Snow will remain a senior national correspondent for NBC News after her planned exit from the anchor chair.
