700 WLW Dominates in Cincinnati Winter Ratings Book

700 WLW has been a ratings powerhouse for decades in Cincinnati. The 2024 winter ratings book shows that status isn’t in jeopardy.

Cincinnati’s dominant news/talk brand finished the quarter as the top rated station in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p) among Persons 35-64 with a 14.3 share. With Persons 25-54, WLW finished fifth with a 5.9 share.

Individually, mornings produced the highest share on the station. Mike McConnell, who hosts from 5a-9a, and the first hour of Scott Sloan’s midday show make up the 6a-10a daypart. Those two combined to deliver a massive 17.2 share among Persons 35-64, topping the market. With Persons 25-54, the daypart pulled a 9.4 share, good for third in the market.

Middays saw another strong performance between the final two hours of Sloan’s program and Bill Cunningham (12p-3p). WLW finished second with Persons 35-64 with a 14.0 share. In the Persons 25-54 demo, the 4.3 share it featured earned a seventh-place showing.

Afternoons (3-7p) featured Eddie Fingers & Rocky Boiman from 3p-6p, and the first hour of Lance McAllister’s sports-focused program. Collectively the two shows grabbed the top spot in the market with a 12.1 share with Persons 35-64. They ranked eight with a 4.5 share among Persons 25-54.

For the full week (M-Su, 6a-12a), 700 WLW earned a 13.2 share with Persons 35-64, ranking first. In the Persons 25-54 demo, the station tied for fifth with a 5.4 share.

iHeartMedia-owned sister station 55KRC earned a 3.4 share for the quarter in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p) with Persons 35-64. That figure represented a tie for 10th place. With Persons 25-54, the station landed a 2.0 share.

Brian Thomas hosts morning drive, with the first hour of The Glenn Beck Program ending the 6-10a daypart. The station earned a 3.1 share during the four-hour window, finishing tied for 10th with Persons 35-64. It garnered a 2.2 share in the Persons 25-54 demo to finish tied for 13th.

Middays (10a-3p) are split between Beck’s program and The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show. The two national program combined to record a 4.7 share, representing a seventh-place finish with Persons 35-64. Among Persons 25-54, the daypart saw a 2.5 share.

In afternoons, The Sean Hannity Show airs from 3p-6p, with the one-hour Simply Money rounding out the daypart. The timeslot finished tied for 10th with a 3.4 share with Persons 35-64, slipping to a 1.2 share among Persons 25-54.

The station finished 11th for the full week (M-SU, 6a-Mid) with Persons 35-64 with a 2.9 share. It earned a 1.5 share in the Persons 25-54 sector to rank tied for 17th.
