Greg Gutfeld Tops All of Cable News With New High Ratings Mark in Bill Maher Conversation

Gutfeld!, Fox News’ 10 PM talk show hosted by Greg Gutfeld who self-proclaims as the new “King of Late Night,” further proved its ratings might as it garnered its largest audience on record on Monday, May 20.

That night’s guest was comedian Bill Maher, host of HBO’s long-running talk show Real Time with Bill Maher who was promoting his new book “What This Comedian Said Will Shock You.”

“Trump is someone who does not concede elections. It’s the most important thing,” Maher told Gutfeld. “You don’t seem to see it that way. That’s the most important thing that’s going on in this country. He didn’t concede the last election. He’s not going to concede this election.”

They also discussed Trump’s energetic presence at his rallies and President Biden’s recent commencement speech at Morehouse College.

According to Nielsen Media Research’s live plus same-day data, Gutfeld! on May 20 delivered 2.871 million total viewers, the show’s largest total audience to date. Directly opposite it on the competing cable news outlets, MSNBC’s Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell drew 2.338 million viewers while CNN’s Newsnight posted 556,000 viewers.

In addition, as we reported previously, it outdrew Norah O’Donnell‘s special exclusive interview with Pope Francis on CBS (2.247 million) as well as other late-night talkers, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (1.8 million), ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1.6 million), NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (1.2 million) and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (697,000).

Gutfeld! nearly reached these total viewer levels recently back on Jan. 10 when it then drew 2.815 million viewers.

On average, the talk show is Fox News’ highest demo deliverer in prime time, and on this May 20 night was no different, averaging 342,000 within the key 25-54 demographic, topping MSNBC (202,000) and CNN (110,000) within the 10 PM hour. Nonetheless, unlike its total viewership, this demo performance was not a record. Since Jan. 1, Gutfeld! has surpassed 342,000 adults 25-54 nineteen times; its most recent time was back on May 1 (378,000).
