More than 18 million viewers watched coverage of the first night of the Republican National Convention Monday according to results from Nielsen, with Fox News leading the pack.
During Fox News’ special coverage anchored by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum at 10 PM ET, nearly 7 million viewers were tuned in, with 1.2 million in the adults 25-54 demographic tuning in. It was the highest-rated show of the day.
Meanwhile, Sean Hannity’s exclusive sit-down interview with freshly tabbed Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance earned 6.1 million viewers.
In total day viewership, Fox News averaged an audience of just over 3 million.
In the 8-11 PM ET window, MSNBC averaged 1.443 million viewers, while CNN trailed with just over 1 million.
Of the 18.1 million viewers of the Republican National Convention coverage, a whopping 13.5 million were in the persons 55+ demographic according to findings from Nielsen. An additional 3.3 million were in the persons 35-54 demo, while just 792,000 from the 18-34 demographic viewed coverage of the conservative event Monday evening.
The networks tabulated for that report include ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, Telemundo, CNN, FOX Business, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS.
