Greg Amsinger to Host ‘MLB on TBS’ Coverage for Remainder of Season

"As fans know, I love to have fun talking baseball and no group laughs harder than the MLB Tuesday studio team."

As the Major League Baseball season continues, the MLB on TBS broadcast property will continue to present regular season games and exclusive coverage of both the American League Division Series (ALDS) and American League Championship Series (ALCS) in the postseason. The studio programming surrounding these games, which is generally hosted by Ernie Johnson upon the conclusion of the NBA season, will have a new voice for the remainder of the year.

MLB Network host Greg Amsinger is going to be hosting the remainder of regular season coverage and all postseason coverage on the network on programs such as MLB Leadoff and MLB Closer. Amsinger will make his MLB on TBS debut this Tuesday as the New York Mets visit the New York Yankees for the second installment of the 2024 Subway Series. Amsinger will be joined by Jimmy Rollins and Curtis Granderson in the studio, along with MLB Network colleague Pedro Martínez, who also serves as a studio analyst for TBS during the MLB season. Coverage of the game and studio shows will be available to watch on TBS and streaming live on Max.

“As fans know, I love to have fun talking baseball and no group laughs harder than the MLB Tuesday studio team,” Amsinger said in a statement. “I’m really looking forward to what I believe will feel like a Tuesday night baseball party with Curtis, Jimmy and Pedro!”

Ernie Johnson is stepping away from his hosting duties on MLB coverage this summer, a role he generally commences following the end of the NBA season. Johnson is the award-winning studio host of Inside the NBA and works alongside Charles Barkley, Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Shaquille O’Neal throughout the NBA season. Lauren Shehadi hosted Tuesday night coverage of MLB on TBS games in the first half of the regular season, including during the playoff run in which Warner Bros. Discovery was broadcasting MLB, NBA and NHL coverage concurrently.

“I’d like to thank the leadership at TNT Sports for allowing me the time away to take care of a family matter during the baseball season,” Johnson said in a statement. “I look forward to returning to the studio for the start of the NBA season.”
