Tom Brady: Broadcasting Gives Me ‘A Great Voice’ When Things Not Done Right

"I want to continue to see football get better and better."

Date:

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady recently completed his first season calling National Football League games in the broadcast booth for FOX Sports. Brady, who reportedly signed a 10-year deal worth a total of $375 million, worked on the lead broadcast team alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt and reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi. The season culminated with the FOX presentation of Super Bowl LIX, which garnered a record-setting average audience of 127.7 million U.S. viewers spanning across television and streaming platforms.

Brady recently appeared on stage for a special edition of The Shop podcast featuring LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama and Kai Cenat. Maverick Carter, who is the chief executive officer of SpringHill Company and business manager for James, asked Brady if he still receives calls from quarterbacks in the league now and helps out. Brady confirmed that this is indeed the case, and that the calls also include owners, general managers, coaches and receivers as everyone tries to figure out how they can help elevate the sport.

“I want to continue to see football get better and better,” Brady said. “And I think the good thing about being on TV – I get to broadcast the games on Sunday – is like I get a great voice when I don’t see it being done the right way and the guys not playing the right way and coaches not calling the right things.

“And it’s a fun thing to be able to do because I think we all want to see everything continue to get better and deliver the product of football, the game’s getting better, the better decision making and guys playing longer, less injuries, and I just think if you can do that, it’ll continue to get better and better.”

Brady is expected to appear on the broadcasts for his second season in the booth next year as FOX Sports presents several marquee matchups throughout the year. Some of these include a Week 2 Super Bowl rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, along with various games featuring the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. FOX will present a Thanksgiving Day showdown between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, along with an exclusive doubleheader in Week 16.
