The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has unveiled its list of finalists for its prestigious NAB Marconi Radio Awards, and news/talk radio is well represented.
Two of the five finalists from the Legendary Station of the Year Award are in the format. WLS AM-890 in Chicago and 700 WLW in Cincinnati are up for the honors.
Four of the five finalists for Major Market Station of the Year Award are from the news/talk radio genre. 1010 WINS and 77 WABC from New York City are finalists, as are WTOP (Washington D.C.) and KNX News (Los Angeles).
In the Large Market Station of the Year category, WBAL in Baltimore and myTalk 107.1 in Minneapolis are finalists. Three of the five finalists in the Medium Market Station of the Year sector are news/talk outlets. 1480 WHBC in Canton, Ohio, Talk Radio 96.3 WTIB in Greenville, North Carolina, News Radio 92.3 in Pensacola, and 930 WBEN in Buffalo are all finalists.
Meanwhile, WTAW-AM in College Station, Texas is a finalist for the Small Market Station of the Year.
In the overall news/talk radio Station of the Year category, the finalists are 95.5 WSB (Atlanta), KRMG (Tulsa), 700 WLW (Cincinnati), KDKA Radio (Pittsburgh), and 93 WIBC (Indianapolis).
In personality categories, SuperTalk 99.7 WTN morning show host Dan Mandis is a finalist for the Large Market Personality of the Year Award for his work on the Nashville news/talk outlet. myTalk 107.1 hosts Jason Matheson and Alexis Thompson are also up for the honor.
KIDO morning host Kevin Miller is once again a finalist for the Medium Market Personality of the Year award for his work on the Boise news/talk station.
In the Small Market Personality of the Year category, Chris Lawrence is up for the honor for his work on WCHS in Charleston, West Virginia.
The 2024 Marconi Awards will be bestowed to winners on Wednesday, October 9th at NAB Show New York.
