Alpha Media cuts continue as KXRO Director of Content and morning host Kyle Pauley exits the Aberdeen, Washington news/talk station.
Pauley had been with KXRO News Radio for nearly 23 years before being let go as Alpha Media continues widespread cuts across its small market stations.
“This was not a decision of the local radio station and unfortunately a symptom of the nationwide decline of local news reporting and entertainment because of the growth of online media. I cannot be more grateful for over 20 years in this job and the coworkers who I have shared that time with,” Pauley wrote in a social media post.
“I will be fine, and will need a few days to process, but I encourage you all to use this as a reminder to support all your local news and media stations through advertising and interaction so that local voices can speak for local people in the future.”
Kyle Pauley becomes the latest causality of the cuts from Alpha Media. News/talk radio staffers in Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, and more have been axed as the company makes massive changes to its programming lineups and philosophies around the country. The reductions have not been limited to the news/talk format, as several other stations and genres have been affected by the layoffs.
