During the first night of the Democratic National Convention, more than 20 million tuned into the coverage. That figure grew on Tuesday.
According to Nielsen, the second evening of event coverage grew to 20.8 million viewers for the evening that included speeches by both Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as the customary roll call vote for delegates.
Of the 20.8 million, 15.5 were from the Persons 55+ demographic. 3.9 million came from the Persons 35-54 demo, and less than 1 million — 950,000 — between the ages of 18-34 tuned into coverage across ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, CNN, FOX Business, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS.
That 20.8 million audience was a slight uptick from the 20 million who watched Monday’s proceedings. Each individual demographic saw audience growth during Tuesday’s event.
Once again, MSNBC led coverage of the event with 4.8 million viewers, up from the audience of 4.6 million on Monday.
