Joe Giglio Named Host of WIP Philadelphia Eagles Radio Network Pregame Show

"So, what you're saying is I need to be more of a game manager for this thing to win?"

WIP afternoon hosts Spike Eskin, Ike Reese and Jack Fritz had midday host Joe Giglio on their show Friday to make a special announcement. Eskin prefaced the announcement by naming his ‘Mt. Rushmore of jobs he doesn’t want at WIP.’ The first of those jobs was Program Director, a position Eskin previously held, and another was being host of the Philadelphia Eagle Radio Network Pregame Show. He noted he was not asked to do the job and then announced that position was going to Joe Giglio.

“The new host of the WIP Philadelphia Eagles Radio Network pregame show is Joe Giglio, who is on the line with us right now,” Eskin said as they welcomed Giglio on the phone lines.

“I’m not sure what the bigger deal is, that I made it onto the Mt. Rushmore some way, or that I’m hosting the pregame show,” Giglio said. “I’m not sure yet. They’re both big.”

Giglio will take over for Glen Macnow who retired in July and had been doing the show for the last 17 seasons. Before road games, Giglio will work with Hugh Douglas and Eliot Shorr-Parks and Ike Reese joins the show for home games.

Reese told Giglio that his job will be made a bit tougher because Reese has “developed a little bit of diva behavior over my years.”

Fritz advised, “Sometimes you’ve got to get out of the way. I know that you have your points, Joe, that you want to get to, but sometimes you’ve got to let them cook,”

“So, what you’re saying is I need to be more of a game manager for this thing to win?” Giglio asked. “More of a game manager? I’ll do whatever it takes for us to win each week.”

“It’s a very exciting show,” Reese said. “We’ve got your co-host returning again this year, Hugh Douglas. He’ll be there. Elliot [Shorr-Parks] is still a know-it-all. The only thing is he thinks he knows even more on game day because I think he’s empowered by his outfit that he has on that day. He does come sharp to the pregame show.”

“There’s a lot of egos,” Giglio said. “I’ve listened enough over the years that I get a sense of it. I’m very excited.
