The Sunday political affairs arena has seen a tight ratings race as This Week with George Stephanopoulos barely edged Face The Nation and Meet the Press last week.
Jonathan Karl guest hosted the ABC News show Sunday and earned 2.5 million viewers in the timeslot. Face The Nation — the CBS News show hosted by Margaret Brennan — saw 2.4 million viewers, with Meet The Press — which is moderated by Kirsten Welker for NBC News — seeing 2.3 million.
The Welker-led program earned the top spot in the Adults 25-54 demographic, as it secured 386,000 viewers. This Week saw 374,000 in that demo, while the program moderated by Brennan was a close third with 354,000 viewers. Welker featured interviews with Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance (R-OH), as well as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
The results from Sunday, August 25th mimic those of the entire month of July. ABC News averaged 2.63 million viewers during that month, while NBC News saw 2.59 and CBS News averaged 2.55 million during the historical month that saw Republican nominee Donald Trump survive an assassination attempt, his subsequent appointment of JD Vance as his running made during the Republican National Convention, and the announcement that President Joe Biden would end his campaign for re-election.
