Many Conservative Media Websites Saw Double-Digit Traffic Spikes in July

"The audience levels are still down from four years ago, but the audience erosion was halted for at least a month.”

Several major news events led to double-digit traffic increases at many conservative media websites during July, according to data from TheRighting.

The month saw Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump survive an assassination attempt, as well as the announcement of his running mate — Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) — and the decision of President Joe Biden to step away from the 2024 race for the White House.

“An earthquake rumbled through the national political terrain in July after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and President Biden dropped out of the presidential race,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.  “Those two dramatic events drew audiences back to news websites, reversing a year-long trend. The audience levels are still down from four years ago, but the audience erosion was halted for at least a month.”

Fox News saw a 26% increase in its total unique visitors during the month compared to July 2023, according to TheRighting. Newsmax saw similar increases with a 25% uptick. Alex Jones’ Infowars saw a 94% increase in traffic, while other outlets like the Washington Times (+149%), Gateway Pundit (+304%), and Daily Signal (+273%) saw triple-digit increases during the month.

While several conservative media websites saw large increases, some of the more ore mainstream conservative outlets like Outkick (-19%), TheBlaze (-25%), Daily Wire (-27%), Breitbart (-22%), and Hannity.com (-13%) did see decreases compared to the previous year.
