Android Auto is preparing an update that will include a new highlighted AM/FM radio functionality that had previously been missing in the software.
With the update, users will be able to utilize their built-in terrestrial radio features without having to switch out of the Android Auto app, equalizing over-the-air radio with streaming music options like YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora.
According to a report from Android Authority, the new features will be unveiled in the version 12.8 update of the app, which is likely to be released in the coming weeks.
In past iterations, users would be forced to exit Android Auto and return to their dashboard’s infotainment center to utilize the in-car radio features. But with the update, that should eliminate the switching back and forth, being viewed as a safety measure as much as an entertainment option from Google.
