Sam Putney, a former Dallas news anchor at stations like K104 and WBAP, has died.
Putney’s family shared the news of his passing earlier this week, which led many Dallas radio personalities to honor him on the air.
“I don’t care how old you were, what age group, what demo, what audience, everybody loved Sam Putney,” former co-host Nanette Lee said.
“He would have, like, a news story and then he would have a funny story,” former co-host Chris Arnold told NBC 5 in Dallas. “He really was your uncle, your brother, your cousin,” Lee added. “That’s our motto, family for life.”
Putney worked on the highly-rated Skip Murphy and Company morning show on K104. He also worked as a news anchor at WBAP in Dallas for several years.
The family of Sam Putney revealed he died from a stroke. He was 76 years old.
