FOX & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones has become a centerpiece of the Fox News morning show since joining the weekday edition of the program earlier this year.
And while many lob criticism on the show and network for its partisan approach to its content, Jones doesn’t view it that way.
In a conversation with AdWeek’s TVNewser, Jones was asked about his approach to interview those on the other side of the political aisle. He shared that he doesn’t view them as any different as the Republicans that are more frequent visitors to the show.
“The party identity of the person I am asking the question to is irrelevant,” Jones said. “My number one goal is to get answers for the audience that I serve. Before the interview, I try to get to know the person as an individual because the interview is never personal. I also always try to do my best to leave on a high note—even in a tough interview.”
Jones also shared that shifting from weekends to weekday mornings on Fox News had a change in mindset. But he did share that hosting a show on a Saturday or Sunday allowed for a more in-depth approach.
“Most of your favorite stories are already covered during the weekday,” he shared. “A weekend story is an opportunity to go deeper into the humanity of the story. The weekend is a time for more lighthearted stories mixed in with the important news of the week.”
