Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted the offer from CNN to participate in a town hall event, with Anderson Cooper serving as moderator.
On Wednesday, October 23rd, Harris will sit down with Cooper in Delaware County, Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia for a live, in-person event. Those in attendance identify themselves as likely voters.
The Democratic candidate will take questions from both Cooper and the assembled audience about key issues relating to the 2024 election.
There was no timetable given for when the event would air, as CNN maintains the same offer has been presented to Donald Trump for a similar event in the Keystone State on the same day.
CNN made its pitch to each candidate for a town hall event after Fox News offered each campaign a last-chance debate on either Thursday, October 24th or Sunday, October 27th. However, Donald Trump has maintained he will not participate in another debate against Harris, regardless of the network in charge of producing said event.
“We continue to believe the American people would benefit from hearing more from the two major candidates for President of the United States and so CNN has extended invitations to both Vice President Harris and President Trump’s campaigns to participate in separate CNN Town Halls on October 23,” the network said in a statement after its offer to each campaign was made public.
