After Donald Trump denied Fox News of a late October debate on Wednesday, CNN is inviting both he and Kamala Harris to participate in town hall events before the 2024 election.

The network has offered both candidates the chance to participate in separate events on the same day, Wednesday, October 23rd. The event — like the proposed debate from Fox News — would take place in Pennsylvania. CNN had previously proposed a debate on that date. Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the offer, but the Trump campaign denied the opportunity.

“We continue to believe the American people would benefit from hearing more from the two major candidates for President of the United States and so CNN has extended invitations to both Vice President Harris and President Trump’s campaigns to participate in separate CNN Town Halls on October 23,” the network said in a statement on Thursday.

Fox News offered to hold a debate on Thursday, October 24th, or on Sunday, October 27th in a last-chance effort for each nominee to make final pitches to voters before election day on Tuesday, November 5th.

The candidates are both already scheduled to appear at separate town hall events this month. Kamala Harris will be at a town hall with Spanish-language channel Univision on Thursday, while Trump will appear on the same network on Wednesday, October 16th.
