New York City is scheduled to elect a new mayor in 2025, and 77 WABC owner and host John Catsimatidis could see himself on the ballot.
In an interview with FOX Business Network host Maria Bartiromo, Catsimatidis was asked about his interest in running for the city’s top office.
“The consideration is certainly there, Maria,” Catsimatidis admitted. “I mean, we need common sense to prevail. Among the people considering it, I hear Mike Bloomberg is considering it. He is a very fine individual. If he could do it, then he should try to do it, too. Governor (David) Patterson, who’s on our show a few times a week is a very capable individual. We need common sense individuals for New York to make a comeback.”
Catsimatidis has hinted at a potential run in recent months. Last month, morning show host Sid Rosenberg shared that John Catsimatidis had wanted him to moderate a Republican primary debate against 77 WABC host Curtis Sliwa. Sliwa was the Republican nominee in the 2021 race for mayor, garnering under 30% of the vote as Eric Adams won the election.
John Castimatidis previously ran for mayor in 2013. During the primary election, he earned just over 40% of the vote, falling to Joe Lhota.
Catsimatidis and Sliwa aren’t the only 77 WABC hosts who are considering a Mayoral campaign. Previously, the station’s afternoon host Greg Kelly, who also hosts a primetime program on Newsmax, has shared he is considering running for the office.
