The Hill and NewsNation Digital Senior Vice President and General Manager Joe Ruffolo has announced he will depart Nexstar Media next month. Nexstar is the parent company to both The Hill and NewsNation.
Ruffolo rose to the role in February 2023. He previously held television jobs at outlets such as CNN, ABC News, and Nickelodeon, among others.
While making the announcement, Ruffolo was clear that the departure was his decision.
“A couple weeks ago, after careful consideration and reflection, I decided to leave my current role to pursue some other projects,” Ruffolo shared. “My last day will be in mid-November after the election. It has been a privilege to help build and grow our brands and digital experiences.”
During his tenure, Ruffolo has led growth for both NewsNation — which now features more than 11 million users across a variety of platforms — and The Hill, which is over 35 million unique monthly visitors.
His background spans management, strategy, business development, editorial, and product development, and includes successfully building and launching digital websites, videos, businesses, and experiences.
