In recent years, the way to consume audio content has changed drastically. But in the news world, AM/FM Radio reigns supreme, according to new data from Edison Research.
In the news category, 69% of all time spent listening to news audio content in the United States is with AM/FM radio and its streaming platforms. In the talk/personalities category, that figure is 32%.
Elsewhere, 61% of sports audio listening takes place on AM/FM radio and streaming from those stations. 32% of all music time spent listening happens with terrestrial radio and streaming platforms from those brands.
The Edison Share of Ear study also shows that podcasting has taken the lead in the talk category, while music consumption remains scattered across several different avenues.
The new, never-before-released data is the first update of the year from Edison Research.
