Scott Busboom, one of the founding fathers of NewsRadio 101 FM in Decatur, Illinois, has died.
Busboom spent 33 years working in the sports broadcasting and local news/talk radio sphere. He helped launch what was then known as Talk 101 FM, the first FM talk station in the market before it rebranded to its now NewsRadio 1010 FM brand.
Busboom retired from the Cromwell Media station on May 1st, 2022 before relocating to Alabama. During his tenure, he hosted the popular Busboom and Wolfe program on the station.
He was remembered fondly by his former co-workers.
“For so many years, Scott was the friend in person and on the radio, in sports, in community events and in promoting Decatur,” said Cromwell Media Group President and CEO Bud Walters. “Our world needs more caring people like Scott Busboom.”
During his time working the market, Busboom was enshrined into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame for broadcasting more than 350 boys and girls high school basketball broadcasts, in addition to over 325 Millikin University men’s and women’s games for the college.
Scott Busboom was surrounded by his family and close friends when he died last week at the age of 62.
