Audacy has announced it is moving legendary news/talk brand KMOX to 104.1 FM in St. Louis.
Previously, the station was heard on an FM translator at 98.7 FM in the market. However, beginning on Monday, March 24th, the station will be heard on 104.1 FM. Additionally, the station will continue to air on 1120 AM.
The station’s move from its 250-watt FM translator to a full-fledged 50,000-watt FM signal coincides with the start of the Major League Baseball season. KMOX has long served as the radio flagship of the St. Louis Cardinals.
On March 24th, HOT 104.1 will move to the 98.7 FM signal and will be rebranded as HOT 98.7.
“We’re thrilled to expand KMOX’s reach and bring the trusted news and entertainment our listeners rely on, as well as Cardinals baseball, on an enhanced FM signal that covers the greater St. Louis region,” said Becky Domyan, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy St. Louis and Wichita. “We’re equally as excited to continue delivering the hottest hip-hop and R&B on HOT 98.7’s new dial position.”
The news of the move to 104.1 FM comes on the heels of Audacy enacting widespread layoffs. During the cuts, the company removed all local staffers from the HOT 104.1 brand before announcing that the legendary news/talk brand KMOX would be shifting to the signal.
