SiriusXM has reached a multiyear extension with Formula 1 to continue broadcasting races to North American satellite radio listeners through 2027. The broadcasting agreement enables consumers to follow all Grand Prix events, F1 Sprint occurrences and qualifying sessions in vehicles with the service and also on the SiriusXM app. News of this agreement comes just after the season-opening Australian Grand Prix from Melbourne as the field looks to collect points and compete for the championship.
“Fans love Formula 1’s incredibly unique blend of skill, speed and technology and the sport’s popularity continues to expand across the United States,” Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer of SiriusXM, said in a statement. “There’s nothing else like it. Our longstanding relationship with F1 ensures that fans across North America will continue to get the most comprehensive coverage in audio, all season long.”
The FIA Formula One World Championship season begins in March and runs through December with races from several iconic circuits around the world. SiriusXM listeners are able to hear all laps of the remaining Grand Prix races, including the three events taking place in the United States from Miami, Fla., Austin, Texas and Las Vegas, Nev.
Users will also have access to coverage before and after the races on Speed City F1, which airs on SiriusXM Channel No. 81 and features hosts Jon Massengale, Jonathan Green, Bob Varsha and Chris Medland. In addition, Massengale and Medland also broadcast a weekly program, Wheel to Wheel, on the same channel Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. EST.
“Formula 1 is delighted to extend its relationship with SiriusXM,” Ian Holmes, chief media rights and broadcasting officer for Formula 1, said in a statement. “Their commitment to providing world class analysis and capturing the drama of every lap means our fans listening across North America never miss a moment of the action.”
