NBC Olympics has named Betsy Riley as senior vice president and coordinating producer, the network announced Monday via a release. Riley will be tasked with overseeing production of the Olympic Primetime Show, beginning with the Milan Cortina 2026 Games.
She begins immediately and will report to Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production.
“We are thrilled that Betsy Riley is coming home to NBC,” Solomon said. “I’ve worked with Betsy for more than two decades, and her experience producing the Games’ highest-profile sports makes her the perfect person to oversee the Primetime Show. She brings the unique combination of a live-event producer’s instincts and an Olympic veteran’s expertise.”
Riley returns to NBC Olympics from Prime Video, where she served as senior coordinating producer. During her tenure, she oversaw game production and played a key role in launching the streaming service’s Thursday Night Football franchise. She also led the development and production of the first-ever Black Friday Football game in 2023 and oversaw Prime Video’s coverage of the NWSL.
Her experience with NBC Olympics spans more than two decades. She has contributed to the production of nine Olympic Games, beginning with Athens 2004, with the exception of Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022. Most recently, she worked on the primetime swimming segments for Paris 2024. In Rio 2016, Riley made history as the first woman to produce Olympic track and field coverage, leading NBC’s daytime programming for the event. She also produced all track and field coverage for Tokyo 2020.
“Betsy is a terrific leader and innovator whose creativity will be vital as we continue to build off the success of Paris and reimagine how NBC presents the Olympics in Milan, L.A., and beyond,” said Solomon.
Beyond the Olympics, Riley has worked extensively on NBC Sports’ NFL coverage. She has served in multiple roles, including as a sideline producer for Sunday Night Football, an augmented reality producer for Super Bowl LVI, and an assistant director for NBC’s Thursday Night Football. Additionally, she played a key role in covering multiple Triple Crown campaigns, including American Pharoah’s historic win in 2015 and Justify’s victory in 2018.
Riley is an eight-time Sports Emmy Award winner and was named one of Sports Business Journal’s “Game Changers” in 2024. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2003 and began working on football broadcasts for NBC while still a student. During her time in South Bend, she was also a member of the track and field team, where she set school records in the pentathlon and heptathlon.
